Just as I was about to go out the door to Cape Spear I got a call from local birder Bruce Mactavish who had just re-found the Pink-footed Goose. Last month it was seen just South of St. John's, today it was in Bowring Park near downtown St. John's.
It wasn't long before I got there and enjoyed great looks at this very accommodating individual:
The tertial feathers have somewhat broad white fringes, which I think indicate that it's an adult.
It fed from one of the only patches of grass in the area. I'm not sure that it can survive off this grass for very long...
A nice way to end my stay in Newfoundland!
